About me
Hello, I’m Ben, a psychotherapist based in York, and I support people to resolve life and relationship difficulties. If you’ve ever felt trapped, possibly disliking who you have become and feeling others blaming you too; we can work together to make sense of how you came to be the person that you are today, and how to make positive changes in your life- to make you more you. Often we feel life’s pressures, or that there is some is just ‘wrong’ but we are unsure of what ‘it’ is, we can resolve the it - to make you more you.
I support clients with childhood trauma, complex diagnosis, as well as seemly day to day issues.
In our sessions I tend to work flexibly, drawing on a range of specialisms to relationally explore what makes you, you. We collaborate together at your pace to help you manage what you have been experiencing, and then work together to help you take back control. My passion is to support people to make sense of what they are experiencing, and become free.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 10 years of supporting people just like you, my main modality is in TA psychotherapy, but I also have a range of additional qualifications including Systemic Therapy training, MSW, BA(hons), CTF, UKATA Dip.
I am registered with SWE, UKATA, and UKCP.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
UKATA (formally the Institute of Transactional Analysis) is the national UK Transactional Analysis organisation representing all fields of TA theory and practice. TA can be used as an effective tool in a wide range of contexts such as: personal development, management, coaching, counselling, psychotherapy, teaching, education, parenting and more.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
