About me
About me
I am an experienced Psychotherapist and therapeutic counsellor with over 35 years working as a clinician. I provide supportive and explorative counselling and psychotherapy for both individual and couples, short and long-term.
Having lived and enjoyed the rich experiences of both the East and West and having studied psychotherapy, I can greatly appreciate cross heritage, multi-cultures, family roots, migration, adjustment challenges and the issues that can arise in relationships and in the environment due to differences.
Having worked in the care of people throughout my careers in counselling, psychotherapy and nursing, I value the uniqueness of the individual and their concerns from the past, earlier and current life. I can work with clients who are experiencing the impacts of adverse effects on their mental and physical health and, safely explore containment, healing and recovery.
My approach
My approach is caring, gentle and sensitive, always holding the well-being and safety of the individual. I go at the client's pace.
The initial sessions are used to hear what brought the client to therapy and to know more of them as a person and hear their issues and the journey they want to undertake. My aim is to provide clients a safe space in which to explore their issues and face their difficulties and emotions.
I am sensitive to the links between physical, emotional and psychological health and spiritual if appropriate in accordance to transpersonal psychology and how they relate to each other in the healing process and growth.
Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy and therapeutic counselling (my original training) focuses on the inherent potential of the individual as well as the past and present, helping to realise their true worth and sense of self.
Psychosynthesis offers an approach to see the person as a whole with choices and not just someone with presenting diagnosis and symptoms. Skills and tools can help with the symptoms whilst taking care of the emotions that may be painful.
When am I available?
I offer daytime and evening sessions. Weekend sessions can be negotiated.
Where am I available?
Currently I practice at London SW16 and SW4.
Training, qualifications & experience
Qualified and experienced Psychosynthesis Psychotherapist {2006} & Psychosynthesis Counsellor {1999}, The Institute of Psychosynthesis, London
I am a retired registered nurse (SRN, RMN) in physical and mental health care. I started my Psychotherapy training whilst working in the NHS community services and linking with GPs.
I value and apply my foundation in nursing to really be with someone, with empathy and warmth. My early years in health care equipped me with compassion, patience and to be present with another, in all kinds of emotional and physical suffering and pain.
I work collaboratively to identify, recognise and manage difficult emotions that depletes energy and keeps one in a stuck place or constant fight, flight and/or freeze state.
I explore with clients body, mind & feelings connections, mindfulness, meditation, breathwork, yoga or other form of movement to regulate overwhelmed nervous system; social interactions and heathier communication styles, strength and practical habits that help with taking small steps towards healing and growth.
I have an extensive working experience and knowledge of over 35 years in psychological processes due to physical illness and conditions like anxiety, depression, trauma, loss and bereavement, guilt and shame, work stresses, relationship issues, adjustment issues relating to being a new mother/parent, moving to new town/home/job, pre & post retirement or anything that causes hurt, pain and confusion and overwhelm. I offer an integrative approach using my skills drawn from psychosynthesis modality, behavioural tools, psychodynamic, humanistic and interpersonal models.
I am registered and accredited with UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy).
I am a member of APP (Association of Psychospiritual Psychotherapists)

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
