MBACP Registered Integrative Psychotherapist

About me

Hi, my name is Arissa and I am a Registered Integrative Psychotherapist (MBACP), currently working online with clients across the UK. 'Integrative' simply means I draw from a range of approaches so we can adapt the work around what you uniquely need, rather than expecting you to fit a particular method.

My background includes psychodynamic, existential and humanistic theory, Gestalt and relational approaches, alongside embodied and experiential work. In practice, this means that our sessions might include exploring the past, focusing on the present moment and challenges, paying attention to what your emotions and body are telling us, and looking at the themes or patterns that come up for you, with some experiential and experimental aspects if it feels safe and relevant. I also bring a curious, compassionate approach to the ‘big questions’ you might face about purpose, identity, or meaning.

At the heart of my work is the belief that change happens through relationship and experiencing. The therapeutic space we create together becomes a place where old patterns can be understood and new ways of being can emerge—without judgement or pressure. I aim to offer a grounded, compassionate presence where you can slow down, make sense of your experience, use gentle curiosity to process, experiment, and feel more connected to yourself, at your pace.

Most importantly, my goal is to support you in navigating what you are looking for in therapy, developing deeper self-understanding, more spaciousness around your emotions and ways of being, fostering creative flexibility, and a clearer sense of 'you' and what feels meaningful to you. My approach is also trauma-informed, and takes into account not just your inner world, but the external systems and pressures that affect it.

If you would like to know more about how we might work together, you are welcome to reach out and we can arrange a free introductory chat. I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
