About me
People come to counselling for lots of different reasons. Sometimes they are struggling with a particular issue or phase in life and want support to understand and accept it or to work through it. Other times, people have a sense that things are not as they would like them to be and want to explore the opportunity for change. Perhaps you are unhappy with how you respond to people or situations in your life and you'd like to understand why you do what you do and what it might be like if things were different. Overall, modern life presents lots of challenges and therapy provides a place to consider what to do about them.
Whatever your reason for seeking counselling, I will provide you with a safe, supportive and confidential space that allows you to work through challenges and achieve your desired outcomes.
My approach is relaxed and friendly and I aim to create a non judgemental space that builds trust between us to allow important work to happen. I will place a lot of emphasis on forming a strong therapeutic relationship with you, as evidence has shown that regardless of the type of therapy, it is the relationship between client and therapist that is key to effective work. As an integrative therapist, I use various models and interventions in my work as appropriate for your needs and preferences. My particular emphasis is in humanistic therapy, where we work together to help you understand yourself better and to empower you to achieve your desired outcomes.
Before changing my career, I worked in various roles within a large corporate organisation. During the latter part of my corporate career, I worked as an employee coach, focussed on supporting employees to develop themselves in order to realise their potential and increase their work satisfaction (and often their happiness and satisfaction at home too). The experience was incredibly rewarding, leading me to change my career and become a counsellor.
Taking the step to start counselling, whether for the very first time or when starting again with someone new, can feel daunting so I will go at your pace and ensure you feel in control of the process. Please contact me to discuss your needs and explore the options available. I offer a free, no obligation introductory call where I can explain more about my approach to counselling and we can discuss any questions or queries you might have about me or about counselling in general. I offer online or face to face counselling from various locations in Berkshire, including Wokingham, Ascot and Sunninghill.
