About me
I offer a confidential space for you to speak freely and openly about anything that is on your mind, particularly that which may troubling you or occupying your thoughts. I am a qualified and registered Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist which means that I work with both the conscious and unconscious mind. Many of our problems stem from childhood memories and experiences, which often return in the present through emotions, relationship difficulties, physical symptoms and dreams. I have a couch (at my therapy room in Hampstead) on which you can lie-down and speak about whatever comes to mind. I will help to try and make sense of how you are feeling, which can lead to new thoughts and changes in life.
There are some things that are difficult to talk about freely, such as anxiety, relationship difficulties, love, loneliness, sexual matters, fantasies, anger, worries about death and feeling low and despairing in mood. Equally, you may be excited for newness in life and feel elated or even guilty about this. A confidential and safe place to share your thoughts, desires and worries can help to bring insight, meaning and often a new purpose in life.
I am also a qualified and registered dramatherapist. This means that I have an interest and love of the arts which we can use in your therapy should you wish to. Dramatherapy can help to think about how we 'perform' in life, the roles we take on, the scripts we use and whom directs us. New narratives and roles can be exhilarating, but feel threatening too. The arts can help us to go somewhere new, in creative and inspiring ways.
I work with individuals, couples and families in a confidential and welcoming space. I have 17 years of experience, which includes both private practice and NHS work. I have much experience of working with those that are neuro-diverse, people that have been bereaved or experienced loss, those in mental-health crisis and people with eating difficulties and disorders.
I offer an inclusive space for clients of diverse sexualities, genders, racial and geographic heritages and backgrounds.
You may be wating for NHS mental heath services or felt let-down with NHS mental-health care, which may not have got to the heart of the matter. Feel free to get in touch and I am happy to offer a free Initial Consultation, either online or in person to discuss what brings you to therapy and what I can provide.
I work in Hampstead, London and in Amersham, Bucks where I can see you in person, I also provide online therapy too. People I see for therapy tend to come once or twice per week and sometimes for long durations, though I am open to working for shorter periods too.
With best wishes
Andrew

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
