About me
Hello. I'm Andrea. My job as a psychotherapeutic counsellor is to help you to understand yourself better, so that you can have more choice about how to live, love, and work. Often the issues brought to therapy (depression, anxiety, relationship problems etc.) are symptoms of a deeper psychological challenge, much as a fever can be the presenting symptom of any number of underlying medical issues. So we will take the time together to be really interested in you, and how you work.
I work integratively, drawing on my training in transactional analysis, positive psychology and cognitive hypnotherapy. I employ a relational and psychodynamic lens. That means that I view our relationship as a key component to a good therapeutic outcome and I consider unconscious processes of thinking feeling and behaving, carried over from the past, to be playing an important part in our here-and-now experience.
I have experience of working with neurodiversity (ADHD and ASD); alcohol and substance abuse; and expertise in working with survivors of child sexual abuse and exploitation (I continue to work as a counsellor at London charity One In Four). I have personal experience of fertility issues and understand the specific fears that accompany a successful pregnancy through donation.
I work with over 18's on a short, medium, or long-term basis. I offer a half hour free-of-charge consultation so that we can agree what's best for you. This also gives us a chance to see whether we are the right fit for each other.
I am accredited with the NCPS to work as a psychotherapeutic counsellor, registered with UKCP, and accredited with the EMCC to work as a positive psychology coach.
