About me

Are you struggling with feeling out of place, lonely, or low in self-esteem? Or feeling that gnawing sense of overwhelm, dread, or the exhaustion of burnout in your body?

Firstly, I want you to know that you are not broken, and you are not alone. At Soft Ground Practice, I honour the whole of who you are, not as a problem to be fixed, but as a person trying to navigate an increasingly complex world. Having been a client in therapy myself, I know how challenging it can be to take that first step and ask for help, and want to assure you that I will always meet you with respect, warmth and non-judgement.

I love working with deep thinkers, the highly sensitive, neurodivergent clients, LGBTQ+ and trauma survivors to reconnect with their inherent self-worth and come to feel more at home in their bodies.

My Approach

My approach weaves talking therapy which explores the depths & history of what is going on for you, along with nervous system and body awareness, mindfulness, and creative or nature-based practices where helpful.

I am a fully qualified BACP-registered Counsellor & Psychotherapist and have spent years supporting people of all ages with diverse backgrounds who are navigating trauma, relational wounds, and complex mental health issues.

Soft Ground Practice therapy is:

  • trauma-informed
  • relational
  • holistic
  • informed by both extensive professional training/education and lived experience
  • authentic & collaborative
  • neurodiversity-affirming
  • LGBTQIA+ & GSRD (including ethical non-monogamy, polyamory and kink) celebratory
  • online, and therefore accessible from the comfort of your own home

What I Can Help You With

In my practice, I support people experiencing a wide range of difficulties including:

  • anxiety, stress, burnout, panic
  • depression, low mood
  • trauma
  • intrusive thoughts, OCD
  • being neurodivergent (ADHD, Autistic) in a neurotypical world
  • relationship struggles
  • bereavement, grief
  • low self-esteem
  • body image issues
  • struggles with gender identity/sexuality
  • life transitions
  • search for meaning, existential concerns, spiritual reflection

This is not an exhaustive list of the issues I have worked with throughout my career. If you are struggling with something that isn’t mentioned here and feel interested in working together, I warmly invite you to get in touch or book a free consultation call so we can discuss it further.

It’s also important to say that a desire to engage in therapy does not need to be justified by significant distress or crisis. You may feel generally content or balanced in your life, yet still feel curious about deeper self-reflection within a supportive therapeutic relationship. I very much welcome this in my practice.

The First Step

The next step requires no great commitment - I offer a 20-minute free and informal consultation call to answer any questions you might have and explore if we’re a good fit. Let’s work together to help you lay down what’s heavy and discover more fulfilment and ease.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
