About me

What I understand about you

It can be really hard asking for help. It can be even harder to think about your own needs when you’re so used to caring for others. What if we’re seen as a failure for not being able to do it all on our own? It can make us feel stuck, trapped even, behind our own smiles and silence. But I see you and I hear you. Life doesn’t have to feel this way.

How I can help

A lot of my clients find it hard taking up space, who have built their lives on prioritising the needs and feelings of others, leading them struggling to identify let alone ask for what they want. Perhaps you weren’t taught that you are important and that you matter as much as others – and you can learn. We can do this with compassion-focused work, using creative tools, in a very warm and patient way but also gently challenging. We can find a way together for you to move forward, to begin to feel better and aligned with your own needs.

How we might work well together

I come from a very similar place to where you may be in. I still experience how hard it can be asking for help, to take up space, to ask for what we need and want. I can see how hard you’re trying and how you want things to be different. You may not be able to express it but I can hear it in you. I’d welcome the opportunity to explore whether working together feels good for you. The best way of contacting me is through the enquiry form on my website and then we can set up a free call to find out what you’re looking for and to see if we are a good fit. Thank you for being here.

Training, qualifications & experience

I qualified with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Roehampton, and also hold a BA(Hons), MA and my level 2 and 3 in Counselling Skills and Studies from CPCAB. Before I started my private therapy practice, I began my clinical work at a charity supporting women with mental health difficulties, and in a further education college offering counselling to students. I’m a Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. This means I’m on a Register that has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. My membership number is 398302.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
