About me
People make sense.
I believe every thought, feeling and behaviour has a story to tell. Even the parts of ourselves that feel confusing, overwhelming or difficult often began as ways of coping, adapting or surviving.
Rather than asking, “What’s wrong with you?”, I believe therapy begins with a different question:
“What happened, and how does this make sense?”
When we begin to understand ourselves with curiosity rather than judgement, we create space to reconnect with our own inner wisdom and find a path towards healing.
Hello, I'm Ami, a neuro-affirming, trauma-informed Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor based in Little Bealings, near Woodbridge, Suffolk. I work with adults aged 18 and over, offering both face-to-face and online therapy across the UK.
I believe meaningful change begins when we feel safe enough to be fully ourselves. My role isn't to tell you who you should be or to offer quick fixes, but to help you better understand who you already are. Together, we can explore your experiences with curiosity, compassion and honesty, making sense of the patterns that have shaped your life and discovering new ways of moving forward.
I work from an integrative and relational framework, drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs. While theory informs my work, I believe that healing happens within a genuine therapeutic relationship where you feel accepted, understood and able to bring all parts of yourself into the room.
Alongside my wider counselling practice, I have a particular professional interest in neurodivergence, including ADHD and autism. I work in a neuro-affirming way, recognising that there is no single "right" way to think, communicate or experience the world. Whether you are neurodivergent or neurotypical, I aim to adapt therapy to you rather than expecting you to fit a particular way of working.
My work is trauma-informed and grounded in an understanding of the connection between our minds, bodies and nervous systems. Together we can explore how your past experiences may still be shaping your present, helping you make sense of patterns that once protected you but may no longer serve you. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, trauma, relationships, grief, burnout, life transitions, low self-esteem or simply feeling lost, therapy can offer a space to pause, reflect and reconnect with yourself.
Above all, I want you to feel that you don't have to perform, mask or have everything figured out before you come to therapy. My hope is that you'll find a space where you feel genuinely seen, heard and understood, and where change grows from understanding rather than judgement.
If you'd like to find out more, I'd be delighted to hear from you. Please contact me by email in the first instance and we can arrange a free 15-minute telephone call to discuss whether I'm the right counsellor for you.

Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a BSc (Hons) Degree and an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling from Matrix College of Counselling & Psychotherapy. I am an accredited member of the UKCP and a registered member of the BACP.
Throughout my career, I have worked with adults experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, trauma, PTSD and CPTSD, bereavement and loss, relationship difficulties, depression, self-esteem, life transitions, menopause, neurodivergence, sensory differences, and the lasting impact of adverse life experiences. This is not an exhaustive list, and I welcome enquiries if you're unsure whether I am the right counsellor for you.
Continuing professional development is an important part of my practice. I regularly undertake additional training to ensure my work remains informed by current research and best practice. Alongside my broader core training, I have a particular professional interest in neurodivergence and continue to deepen my understanding of neuro-affirming practice, ADHD and autism, alongside complex trauma (CPTSD), narcissistic abuse and attachment.
As an accredited member of the UKCP and registered member of the BACP, I work within their ethical frameworks and always practise within the limits of my competence, ensuring that client safety and wellbeing remain at the heart of my work.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
