About me

Hello, and welcome. I welcome enquiries from anyone searching for a space for reflection, support and growing self awareness, and I specialise in ecotherapy and pre/post natal therapy.

What is ecotherapy?

Ecotherapy (otherwise known as wild therapy, outdoor therapy, or walk and talk) is a process of engaging with the other-than-human to support your therapeutic process; considering your connection not only to yourself and other humans, but the rest of the ecosystem. This process can be hugely healing, moving, regulating, sometimes challenging, and inviting of symbolism and a "flowing through" of emotions which you may find become "stuck" in a therapy room.

How is it offered?

Sessions are generally offered in a quiet, public, mutually convenient outdoor space such as a woodland/moorland with suitable terrain.

It is possible for this to be offered online/telephone and for us both to be outside in different locations, and our connection to the natural world can even be something to be explored in the room in my practice in Sowerby Bridge.

I hold a Certificate in Wild Therapy following a one year training course, and an Advanced Certificate in Ecotherapy; I'm happy to answer any questions you have.

I also have a special interest in pre and post-natal therapy (for planning, pregnancy, processing birth experiences and in early parenthood). Please see my website for more information.

I cover the UK online/telephone, and in person in Sowerby Bridge (Calderdale) and Littleborough (Rochdale).

It can be hard to find the right therapist, and I’m happy to answer any queries you may have to help you to make the right decision for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

Experience

I have been working as a psychotherapist in private practice since 2019.

Previously, I gained 20+ years' experience working for local and national charities supporting adults, children and families around sexual and domestic violence, mental health, adoption, self harm, managing suicidal feelings, and those affected by trafficking and exploitation. I have run several groups specific to sexuality and gender, and I have supported people from many cultures and religions in the UK, as well as working overseas.
