About me

Hi, my name is Amanda Woodhouse. I am a professional, qualified counsellor and supervisor with a BA (Honours) Degree in Counselling Studies, a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and a Diploma in Clinical Supervision. I have also attended various training days over the last eleven years.

As a professional counsellor & supervisor, I am a registered member of The British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (BACP), which means I adhere to their comprehensive ethical framework.

I have a wide range of experience working with mental health and emotional issues, including anxiety, stress, depression, bereavement, and loss, with clients aged 14 years and upwards. My counselling experience includes counselling for the NHS, a health and social care organisation in Grimsby, and for 10 years, I counselled students at a local school, college, and university. I have also counselled privately since 2018, which I find tremendously rewarding. I feel honoured and privileged when clients share their worries and concerns, trusting me to work with them on finding solutions.

As a Person-Centred counsellor, I work non-judgmentally and empathically, enabling clients to talk freely and confidentially about any issues or concerns they are having, no matter how big or small. I listen and accept my clients for who they are, which often helps them to accept themselves and embark on a journey of self-exploration. However, as every client is different, I also integrate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness into my practice to suit individual needs.

If you would like an appointment or if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by phone or email, and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
