About me

I am an integrative psychotherapist, living and working in the Carlisle area of Cumbria. I now work online as well as face to face, so distance is not a barrier. My journey to becoming a psychotherapist has involved many learning experiences in different fields over many years and I think this makes me slightly unique as I bring together therapy skills with coaching skills in order to empower you to grow and move forward in your life.

I would be the right person for you to work with if:

  • things in the past keep bothering you in the present
  • you are now an adult and you grew up in an emotional vaccuum
  • You want, to grow in self-knowledge, find self-acceptance in order to make changes and be their best possible self.
  • you are recovering from trauma in childhood or recent events
  • you struggle to have a firm sense of your own identity
  • you are experiencing a crisis of faith and spirituality
  • you just want things to be different but you don't know how to get there
  • you struggle to regulate your emotional reactions

If you would like to work with me, you can contact me by email or via my website contact form.  I will then offer you a free clarity call 15-20 minutes to find out what you are seeking, and after that we can arrange an initial assessment meeting, if you would like to proceed. We might agree to do a number of sessions initially. It's important you find someone you feel safe and comfortable with and a few sessions finding out is mutually beneficial.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a post-grad in emotional education through Derby University and I first started my psychotherapy training with the Berne Institute, near Nottingham in 2006 and later completed my training in Transactional Analysis with the Northern Guild For Counselling and Psychotherapy, in Newcastle. in 2020. I have also trained in trauma, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and I have an ongoing passion for learning in neuroscience, trauma and the role Spiritual practice and mindfulness can play in finding inner wholeness, peace and healing. I am currently training with Janina Fisher in the treatment of trauma.

So although my accredited training was completed in 2020, I had already gained much experience over 20 years in the field of emotional education, personal and professional development and empowerment, working in the educational and voluntary sectors.

I use my head full of knowledge and theories to inform my work, but most of all I like to work with the persons heart that is in front of me, to get to know you, how you have come to be the person that you are and to find practical and wise solutions to presenting problems and issues. I know that you are the solution to any issue, and I see my role as a facilitator to those self-discoveries that currently are hidden from you.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I am also available to work with people who feel that they are recovering from spiritual abuse in faith based settings.

As my first degree and passion were in all things sporty, I am also looking to provide psychotherapy to sports people, providing mental and emotional health support to optimise peak sporting performance.

I have lots of experience working with adolescents, and I currently work in a local charity that emotionally supports Young People who have experienced bullying and are experiencing anger, anxiety, low mood as a result.

I will work with young people over the age of 16 privately.
