About me

People seek out psychotherapy and counselling for many different reasons.

When life feels overwhelming, psychotherapy creates space to explore the overwhelming, challenging feelings that you may be experiencing. In my approach, I place importance on exploring the root cause of the problem and provide an affirming therapeutic space to facilitate change.

A strong therapeutic relationship forms the foundation of my practice. A therapeutic relationship that is accepting and non-judgmental makes space for growth and healing.

As a psychodynamic practitioner, I offer a space of reflection and exploration. I work alongside you as we explore past experiences and process the feelings and emotions we hold as a result of these experiences.

In my approach, we work collaboratively to uncover and work through patterns and behaviours in a supported environment. By exploring what is going on for you and making links between the past and the present we gain greater insight into ourselves - this is where we can make significant change.

As we continue to develop an understanding of ourselves, we can begin to meet the wounded parts of ourselves with compassion. This may look like overcoming stress, anxiety, depression, guilt and shame. As we overcome these challenges and meet them with compassion we can begin building confidence, a greater sense of self and improve relationships with ourselves and others.

I maintain cultural awareness and sensitivity by respecting difference, including where our backgrounds and identities differ as it relates to race, ethnicity, sexuality, faith, class, gender and disability. I also hold in mind trauma that has been passed through generations and the impact that this has on the individual.

I offer a free initial consultation providing an opportunity to discuss what brings you to therapy. Whether there is a specific issue you would like to focus on or an exploration into different aspects of your life, I offer short term, long term and open ended therapy.

I recognise the courage that it takes to seek therapy. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to begin counselling/psychotherapy.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
