Advanced Diploma. Reg. BACP Counsellor/therapist

About me

Therapy is a space for reflection, growth and moments of joy as well as challenges. I offer a safe, supportive and confidential space where you can talk openly and feel truly heard without judgement. We’ll work together at your pace, exploring what you want to change, and helping you work out your own best ways to get there, with trust, understanding and openness.

I'm an integrative counsellor, using mainly an existential approach informed by psychodynamic ideas. This means the relationship we make is central, and therapy is a kind of exploring together, led by you, of what you want to change, how life has brought you here and how you want to grow. In this process, you gain understanding and control and make more fulfilling relationships with yourself and other people.

Reaching out for help can be hard, but I aim to make the process as easy and manageable as possible and I understand it's very important to work with someone who feels like the right match, so please do reach out for a free introductory call to see if I might be a good fit.

Training, qualifications & experience

I began working in therapeutic settings in 1994. I think continuous training and development is essential for a therapist and am currently studying for a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice.

I will listen to, support, and value you as we navigate your journey together. My experience includes helping people affected by relationship difficulties, bereavement, childhood trauma, abuse, sexual violence, questions about identity and confusion about how to be yourself in the world. I support those dealing with anxiety, depression, low self esteem, grief, shame, guilt and suicidal thoughts.

I strive to be race and culturally aware, am LGBTQIA+ allied and neuro-affirming. Much of my work is with those with ADHD and Autism, and I frequently work with students, as well as older adults.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
