About me

The most important thing to be established with any potential client is whether or not we would be a good therapeutic fit and so I offer a free 20 minute telephone consultation so we can get to know each other better. This provides us with an informal setting that is free of financial pressure and allows us to see if we would work well together to help you to get what you want from therapy.

I am a person-centred counsellor and my view is that you are the expert of your own life and I am there to be able to help you to make sense of the relationships and environment around you. By offering a safe environment that is free from judgement I am able to offer you a fresh perspective and help you to peel back the layers that are obscuring your view of your own self.

I deliver therapy in 3 different ways; outdoor therapy, in-person therapy and online therapy.

Outdoor therapy is currently offered in Heaton Park where we walk around a specifically curated route and we both figuratively and literally walk side by side through the issues that are bringing you to therapy. Through conducting a session in the fresh air and natural surroundings clients have been able to feel less inhibited and more comfortable with being open and honest about how they are feeling.

I offer in-person therapy in both Prestwich and Whitefield/Radcliffe where I have a room available for us to conduct sessions in a private and comfortable setting. I have found that post Covid people have largely wanted to engage with in-person therapy and through having a room available it makes this possible for those that would prefer not to conduct a session outdoors.

I also offer Zoom sessions in which a session can be accessed from the comfort of your own home. Clients have found this to be useful because it means that they seamlessly slot therapy into their weekly routine.

I understand that the years since Covid and it's many lockdowns have been difficult and caused a great deal of change and uncertainty, which may have manifested in stress, anxiety or depression. You may not have considered therapy before but I am here to help you to navigate the issues that are bringing you to therapy and to make sense of the world around you and how you experience it.

I have experience of working with LGBTQ+ clients and related issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
