About me

Hi! I’m Abi, and I am a Relational Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor. Therapy offers us a space to explore current processes, and how they may be linked to the past. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-worth, or other trauma-related difficulties, I am here for you.

My practice is a cosy room, located in Nottingham. Here we can explore, processing the parts of you, perhaps gaining a better understanding of yourself and how you want to move forwards. Sometimes life can be hard and it is my wish to be here for you when it is, tackling the bad, whilst working on feeling the good.

I am an integrative therapist, which means I utilise a combination of therapeutic approaches, tailoring to my client’s unique life experience. I work from a Humanistic Gestalt perspective. My focus is on relational patterns, unconscious processes, attachment theory and Transactional Analysis.

Choosing a therapist and reaching out can be a frightening process. Stepping into the unknown requires courage, and sometimes comes at the hardest times. I hope to build trust and safety from the moment clients reach out. I offer a 15-minute complimentary call so that you can decide if you feel we would be a good fit together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and completed my Bachelors of Science degree at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute. I have worked with bereavement, sexual abuse, trauma, adoption trauma, and general anxiety and depression. My approach to therapy consists of integrating theories to offer a unique approach to each client. I offer a non-judgmental, safe space for clients to bring whatever they wish. I am influenced by unconscious, attachment and trauma theories, specifically working humanistically and relationally. The goal is to work through relational patterns and past traumas.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
