About me

Hi, I'm Aaron,

As a dedicated psychotherapist, I am passionate about empowering individuals to overcome challenges and achieve psychological wellness. With a focus on creating a safe and non-judgmental space, I work collaboratively with my clients to explore their emotions, thoughts, and behaviours. My goal is to facilitate personal insights and facilitate positive changes, leading to a more meaningful and balanced life.

I’m an integrative therapist which essentially means that I draw upon different ways of working according to what you need, and I tailor my approach to suit those needs.

I am person-centred at my core, my approach is allowing the client to lead on their own exploration of their thoughts and feelings while I feel it is my responsibility to create an environment to enable you to explore – you are the expert in your life

Brigsdale Therapy is the name of my therapy practice, please feel free to check out the site.

Session experience: Sessions with me are relaxed. My approach to therapy is that I do not have all the answers ( I am not all knowing) and that the client knows what's best for their life. I will smile, laugh and joke. I will also challenge, encourage and celebrate you. I see it as a journey and we will work together to create our own dynamic. How we relate to each other is the (I believe) core to the success of therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

Engaging in therapy for the first time or the fourth time can be a daunting experience. Questions around "What will happen?, What am I expected to do?" can result in some anxiety and hesitation. I have provided some information below, but, if you want to know more, then please do reach out!

Assessments

  • Will be a free 20 min call to discuss your needs and requirements and to learn a bit more about me.
  • If we are both content to continue, I will send you the contract and a one page form to complete with your personal information.
  • Please do read the contract - its an agreement between both of us, and I  want to make sure you are happy to proceed.

First Session

  • Will take place either in person or on Zoom.
  • It will give us a chance to expand on the assessment and understand more about what you want from therapy. This session may also involve setting goals to ensure sessions have a focus.

Sessions

  • Will continue at the same day/time each week. There may be some flexibility, but, its best that we ensure we are consistent.

Endings

  • Sessions can go on for as long as you want them too. This is up to you. When you are ready to finish therapy - you finish! It is customary (and nice) to have a final session so that we can reflect on our therapeutic journey.
