About me

I am a trauma therapist providing short and long term therapy, EMDR and clinical Supervision for counselors and other professionals.

Short interventions and EMDR are available for people suffering from trauma such as a car accident or traumatic birth to help them process their experience quickly and get back to their lives.

In my long term work I'm working exclusively with women and men who's past won't leave them alone. Most are recovering from child sexual abuse, child abuse and domestic violence and have developed PTSD.

I also work with Survivors with addictions and have many years experience working in alcohol rehab.

I am EMDR qualified.

I welcome corporate companies.

I am available daytime's, evening and weekend appointments.

About me........As a young woman I struggled with the long term effects of the abuse I experienced as a child. I couldn't find anyone who understood or would even acknowledge my symptoms so I had to work it out for myself. I trained as a counsellor so I could help other survivors of child abuse to find internal peace..

About what I do.......I am passionate about helping Survivors of child abuse recover. I never bought into the myth that we 'cannot get over it' or that we are 'damaged goods' many of us have recovered and moved on with successful, often outstanding lives. It is my privilege to help and support people in their recovery and watch them grow..

I work with people abused as children providing the counselling for CPTSD I couldn't find when I needed it. Back then, I thought I was ‘mad’ because I didn't understand the long term effects of child abuse and how it taints our view of the world.I didn't understand that behavior, such as loneliness, addictions, eating disorders, self harm, risk taking etc were not the problem but the solution to the underlying issue of child abuse.I can help you explore and make sense of your thoughts, feelings and behaviors in the context of your experience Then we can work together to develop new and healthier ways to be.

How I do it.....I provide long and short term Integrative counselling in my private counselling suite. I appreciate the idea of counselling can feel overwhelming, especially if this is your first time, I respect that it is your recovery and work hard to help you take control of it in a safe way that makes sense for you. This can include being flexible with how we work and when we work. I have a number of clients who block book sessions when they need them so they don't worry about having to start over with a new counselor in future.

People come to me for all sorts of reasons, sometimes there is a specific problem so we work on that. Some want to talk about what happened, but you don't have to. Some are looking for help to manage the effects of CPTSD, such as obsessive and/or compulsive thoughts and behaviors, flashbacks or feeling overwhelmed.Perhaps you would like help to understand how your experiences affect your relationships today so you can chose how you respond to others. Or help to recognize your patterns of behavior so you can work out how to choose to change it. Sometimes you just need someone who understands your issues and can support you through a difficult stage in your recovery. Don't worry if it feels like 'everything is wrong,'we can explore that together and break it down into something manageable.

Creative interventions, such as drawing, sticking, gluing or making stuff are encouraged, I work with what makes sense for you.

What to do next......if you think I might be the right counsellor for you or you would like to find out more please email me. If you ring me and your call goes straight to answer phone ,the best way to get through is using whatsapp as my signal isn't great. I can't guarantee I will answer straight sway but if you drop me a message on whatsapp with a couple of appropriate times to call I will ring you back (you can text too but sometimes that takes days to come through.) We can then arrange to discuss what you need by phone and see if we would like to work together.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
