About me

I have over 12 years experience as an Accredited Psychotherapist within BACP.  I provide an empathic, warm and accepting environment where you can explore your concerns confidentially.  My private practice is in Montpellier, Cheltenham. I can offer a professional and skilled service while remaining approachable.

I have undertaken training in many counselling disciplines, Psychodynamic, CBT, NLP, Short Term Intensive Dynamic Therapy, Couples Counselling, Counselling Children & Adolescents.  Supervision.

I have experience working within Schools across Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire University, Social Services, TIC+ ( Children & Families Charity), SHARE YP ( Adolescent Charity), GCS (Gloucestershire Counselling Services).  I have a Private Practice (12years) in Montpellier Cheltenham

I have an advanced CRB check and trained and qualified to work with Child Protection issues. 

I am registered with the ICO (Information Commissioners Office) for Data Protection Act 1998. 

Of special interest to me is the counselling psychology of attachment, early trauma and loss and how this may impact on the present for example: relationship issues, couples relationships, depression, anxiety, affairs and betrayal, adolescence, self harm, eating disorders, sexual abuse etc.

I offer therapy to Adults, Couples, Adolescents. I am a qualified Supervisor and offer Supervision to qualified Therapist's and Trainee counsellors.
 
My style of working is warm and non judgmental. My approach is to customise my way of working by integrating tools and strategies from several counselling disciplines to meet the needs of you the client. Your needs will be assessed at the initial session and an agreed focus and an indication of timescale will be discussed. My aim is to move you from a position of self doubt and insecurity to one where you feel more in control to give you back choice in your life and hopefully the confidence to use that choice.

Training, qualifications & experience

I started my training as a therapist in 2001 and have over 18 years post qaulification experience. My training relevant to Psychotherapy has been undertaken in Edinburgh, London, Wales and Gloucestershire.  I have a Social Science degree to MA level. I have achieved the following professional qualifications:-

-Post Graduate Diploma Counselling Children & Young People
-Advanced Diploma Psychodynamic Studies with Dissertation component (an  accredited BACP Training Course)
-Certificate in Couples Counselling 
-Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - CBT
-Certificate in Neuro Linguistic Programming - NLP
-Certificate in Time Limited Psychodynamic Counselling
-Certificate in Brief Solution Focused

Additional  CPD courses (Continuing Professional Development) undertaken  in various settings e.g. Counselling victims of crime: Pre Trial therapy for children & vulnerable people, Infant attachment and child development, Sexual pervertions, Effects on families of Addiction, Working with men, Working with families, Eating Disorders, Handling aggression, etc.
