About me

I have 20 years' experience (8 in GP surgeries) as a therapeutic counsellor. I deal with all kinds of human concerns and difficulties and enjoy supporting people on their journey through Life. I specialise in Stress, Anxiety, Depression and health, family & relationship problems (new baby, moving house, work, bullying, disability, divorce, retirement, grandparenting etc) . I offer a safe space where clients can explore their problems and express their thoughts and feelings without being judged or taking sides. Getting help early for psychological problems often means improved outcomes.

As a Humanistic Counsellor, I respect each person as a unique being with skills, responsibilities & choices. The first sessions are usually about exploring a current crisis or any confusion or unhappiness that a client may struggle with. The aims of further sessions may include healing the past, improving confidence, communication and relationships, solving problems, changing unwanted behaviour, building on strengths and creating a Life they love according to their nature. I draw from a variety of approaches: person centred, transpersonal, existential, CBT/REBT, psychodynamic with a holistic perspective (Mind, Body, Spirit).  I may use practical exercises e.g. anger & stress management, assertiveness, self-esteem, confidence & self-awareness exercises to help people feel more relaxed and in control. The Rewind Technique safely reduces the impact of traumatic events (Road Traffic Accidents, Assault, Betrayals, Deaths, Harassment, Abuse etc)

I also offer The Radiance Technique a simple but powerful relaxation & meditation practice. I have studied to The Fourth Degree of The Radiance Technique, Authentic Reiki, a transcendental science, including The Third Degree Authorised Instructor level.

As well as seeing people of all ages I also do workshops, give talks and support local events. I hold an enhanced CRB certificate.

I offer flexible appointment times including some evenings & Saturdays.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
