About me
I feel passionately about my work, and am committed to making a difference to your life. I feel strongly that if you are vulnerable or in distress that you have the opportunity to make changes in your life based on an awareness and an informed choice. This is what I hope to facilitate in my sessions.
Counselling provides an opportunity for you to work towards living your life in a more fulfilling way by addressing specific issues around your thoughts, feelings, behaviour and experiences. It's about empowering, supporting and enabling you to find the solutions which feel right for you, in a way which respects your values, personal resources, and freedom of choice.
I am an established, experienced and accredited counsellor. I deal with a wide range of issues which include depression, anxiety, sexuality, self-esteem and relationship issues. I also have 9 years experience in trauma, bereavement, loss and disability within an NHS setting. I regularly see clients for all maternity (pregnancy/birth) or infertility related issues. I also provide counselling support for Elite and Olympic athletes, for the English Sport Institute. I supervise counsellors, and deliver training.
I am also a BACP Coaching member, and support individuals to address the barriers to achieving their goals.
I am located near the River Thames in Maidenhead. The sessions take place in a comfortable setting, with confidentiality guaranteed.
I can confirm that during the Coronavirus restrictions, I am able to offer counselling by Skype, zoom, whatsapp video, and telephone.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

"I cannot thank you enough for getting me through the most difficult and traumatic experience of my life. I had been subjected to terrible mental abuse and aggression from a partner for years, which had left me a former shadow of myself. Your wisdom, guidance, support and kindness have given me the strength to rebuild my life and find myself again. You have encouraged me to venture back out in the world and start enjoying myself again, and given me the tools to protect myself. You have been my rock and I will never be able to thank you enough. Don't ever stop doing what you do, because you have an amazing gift in helping people." CE 16/6/14
"After just 8 sessions talking with Linda, I have gained a new and 'balanced' opinion of myself, leading to much improved self esteem in a short space of time. I have learned a new way of thinking, which helps guide me onwards with much more self worth and positivity. I think anyone would benefit from chatting to Linda. It was really helpful and enlightening. A very positive experience that I will remember." AL 3/8/13
