About me

Thank you for looking at my information. People come along for all sort of reasons and not always some traumatic event but often just feeling rubbish, anxious or low mood/depressed. After 25 years in this line of work, my being really easy to be with is the start of working through, sometimes really difficult feelings.

Having worked with a those from most age groups and backgrounds, experiencing a very wide variety of problems, including, Anxiety; Depression; Trauma; Family issues; Self-esteem and confidence and Bereavement and just feeling lost, as examples. I will be a companion through your experience during our sessions. I believe that everyone should be able to have counselling as it can be life-changing and amazing experience.

It can be really difficult to take the first step to call, text, e-mail for support but I once over that road block, I will truly listen to you, use empathy, respect and not judge and explore ways to change how you feel, see things and maybe make practical changes to your life.

I currently work mainly from my home office which is professional, friendly, keeps costs down. My office offers anonymity for those with high profile or professionals work with the public, having worked with NHS, HMP staff, Police schools and other stretched professions, who might not want a public venue. I also work in some locally secondary schools working with students.

To underpin my work with you, I am very qualified and professional, being Registered and Accredited by the BACP for more than 15 years but still learning and loving the privilege of being with amazing human beings. I can work in a variety of ways to suit you and make sure that you are in control at all times. I have a good working knowledge of several models of therapy, but I am Person Centred Counsellor and I am trained in Person Centred Art Therapy.

I have worked in East London, Essex, Isle of Wight and now Dorset for Local Councils, National and local Charities, in schools and NHS as well as employers (including HMPs, Ex-military, NHS, Emergency Services staff and high-profile clients), so I can bring experience from working thousands of hours to be able to work with your difficulties and how you are trying to cope, to find a positive way forward.

I have a few fundamental beliefs…we are all human and so imperfect, we are allowed to make mistakes and don’t need to accept bad behaviour from others, and that we can all change and change things around us for the better.

Please give me a call or text as I am always happy to have a chat on the phone, so that you can see how you feel about working with me.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
