Hello and thanks for “clicking” on my profile. My name as you can see is Peter Thompson a qualified Counsellor now in my fifties based in Bewdley Worc’s. I am an Accredited Member of the National Counselling Society and work within the ethical framework of both the NCS and the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists. Whilst I have my own practice in Bewdley I also visit clients so long as their chosen venue is suitable for a counselling relationship to develop. I also continue to volunteer as a Bereavement Counsellor for a local charity organisation.

I am also a Level 2 Reiki practitioner and am happy to discuss this side of my work to offer an Holistic approach to a relationship should a client wish to know more.

I work with individuals or couples in an environment of mutual trust totally free of ridicule or judgement.

I am able to work with a variety of issues bereavement, loss, anger, stress, anxiety, depression, self esteem as well as other issues that we all come across from time to time in life.

My fees per hour are £25.00 for an individual and £45.00 for couples work as well as £20.00 for students in training. First sessions are free of charge as this is a time of each of us assessing whether we can work together.

So that’s a brief introduction of me. You know I am qualified and where I am. But what else do you want to know that might help you to feel able to contact me.

Well there are many very good counsellors for you to choose from and I consider myself to be amongst them but what I would say to you in this profile is that I admit to weaknesses and frailties, mistakes and successes even self inflicted failures throughout my life that have caused the path I have travelled to be a lot harder for me and those around me than it really needed to have been at times.

I look back at these times as what make me what I now am because I see each experience I have been through as a lesson to me. Some years ago I began to change my approach to life. Instead of chasing life I stopped and reflected for a while giving me time to focus on areas of my existence on this planet that at first became embarrassing to me but then became a lesson for me to choose a new direction if I wanted to.
YOU will experience life in your own way based upon all the events and incidents that have occurred throughout your own existence.

Why am I disclosing this information about myself?........ I have included this personal information about myself to hopefully show that although I have become one of the many qualified counsellors I am also a Human Being with all that it brings with it.

Just like any other person who walks their own path in life. I have experienced issues in the context of my own life. I give a client the opportunity to focus upon their own life issues from the contexts in which they experienced them. Each experience is unique to the individual.

I am not religious and I cannot wave a magic wand to make your life better. I respect the fact that YOU are your own expert and my role is to help you to help yourself.

Working in a Humanistic Person-Centred manner with a client I will give them the time and space to explore their own personal life and to develop a trust in me and more importantly in the relationship we will develop. From this beginning the client will find our meetings a safe and comfortable environment for them to explore and focus on issues that they have been reflecting upon.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and work very much with a Person Centred approach. As well as developing my private practice I continue to work as a volunteer with a local Bereavement charity.

I also continue to attend workshops and lectures in the course of my own personal and professional development.

All initial sessions are free of charge as I see this session as time for us to assess each other and decide whether we can work together.
Subsequent sessions will be for the duration of an hour and each session will be £25.00 and £45.00 for couples and £20.00 for students in training.

Further Information

My work will be born out of a respect for the client through which my purpose towards them is to allow them a place of safety in which they can be themself for each session we have. Their ability to grow via the work we undertake will be a great part of the relationship between client and counsellor.
