The Counselling & Psychotherapy Centre
23 Bath Road
I am a Relationship Specialist working with both couples and individuals. You may have lost hope in your relationship or got stuck in a rut. Perhaps you are unable to talk about your problems, or have just forgotten why you are together. Relationship issues often build slowly when we lose attention and energy, or suddenly after a specific distressing issue such as an affair. Anxiety around relationship issues can be exhausting.
Whatever the problem, we’ll unpack the dynamics of the relationship, without blame or criticism, in order to give the two of you choices that you may have lost sight of. We will look for safe ways of breaking down the layers of defensiveness so you can talk about things without fear and begin to hear each other without judgement.
People often find it harder to seek help as a couple than as individuals. Whether it be fear of failure, fear of being vulnerable in front of your partner, or simply fear of being 'unmasked', I aim to be sensitive and careful whilst being respectful of both partners whatever their story.
I also work with individuals who may recognise repetitive relationship patterns, or who are struggling with a relationship breakdown. Sometimes, a partner does not want to seek help and then I can work with just one.
I do pre marriage counselling for those who are about to get married, or make a commitment, to facilitate healthy and conscious choices to create a shared vision. Too often, we leave things to chance and then feel disappointed when our dreams are unfulfilled.
Besides that, I also offer personalised relationship workshops for people who just feel stuck and know there is something more. These are focussed on potential rather than problems. Sessions are experiential looking at strategies, tools and the moves needed to enrich your specific relationship.
And finally, I am an accredited EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) practitioner which I find is wonderfully adaptable to so many of the things we struggle with.
I work in Marlborough, Swindon and Bristol, and also online if you are at a distance.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Diploma in Clinical and Pastoral Counselling and a Certificate in Couples and Family Counselling. I am also a graduate of The Developmental Model of Couples Therapy Training under Ellyn Bader Ph.D. at The Couples Institute.
I am an accredited member of the National Counselling Society, a member of the National Council of Psychotherapists and an accredited practitioner with the Association for the Advancement of Meridian Energy Techniques.
Prior to setting up in private practice here in Wiltshire just over two years ago, I spent 10 years working in a busy and challenging cross cultural practice abroad. Relationships have fascinated me ever since I recognised how vital they are to our wellbeing - and how detrimental to our health and wellbeing a highly stressed relationship can be.
I am an advanced Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) practitioner using it with individuals and with groups.
I have also delivered several workshops especially on relationships.
Since I have a natural curiosity and am constantly inspired by my work with couples, I take my professional development very seriously. I aim to increase my creativity and improve my practice through regular courses, reading and learning each year.
