Supervision details
“Good supervision is at the heart of keeping us safe and sane as therapists.”
What is Supervision?
Supervision is where the supervisor holds a space for the supervisee to engage in a reflective practice in relation to clinical, non-clinical, managerial and organisational issues. The supervisee may present any issues that they feel are relevant during the session. All sessions will be structured to meet ethical guidelines and supervisee or organisational needs.
Confidentially is paramount within the supervision relationship to foster a healthy and safe place for the supervisee to share the client’s process. The information shared during the session will be respected whether verbal or visual. Any images shared by the supervisee in relation to the work presented, during the session will be kept safe in line with GDPR requirements. To maintain confidentially any notes taken by the supervisor will only use pseudonym, initials, or first name’s.
I draw from an integrative approach with focus on a cyclical model and the Seven Eyed Model of Supervision. This integrative approach provides the fluidity to expand on one’s growth, learning within the supervisory relationship in relation to the client work, or organisation issues presented within the chosen field of clinical practice. It provides a framework for the supervisee to focus, explore, collaborate, investigate, reflect, and bridge one’s learning back to the client’s process, or organisational/ managerial context with clarity. Concluding with review and feedback, ensuring the supervisee feels empowered and confident, as they continue to work with the client or the wider context of organisational/managerial environment.
My supervision practice in conducted in line with the governing bodies HCPC, BAAT, BISS to whom I am accountable.
My Private Practice at Art Therapy Works offers clinical supervision to a wide range of counsellors, therapists and support workers so whether you are in private practice or working for an organisation as a Psychotherapist, Art Therapist, Play Therapist, Counsellor, or Mentor or Support Worker I hope you will get in touch to find out how I might be able to support you in your therapeutic work.
Personally, supervision is like a labyrinth we journey into the centre and back out feeling richer for the shared experience and the supportive nature that supervision and mentoring provides.
I offer face to face meetings at my studio in Yorkshire as well as the option to meet via Zoom if that is more convenient.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
