Supervision details

I have experience of supervising both qualified and trainee counsellors. I provide a confidential space to reflect on all aspects of your clinical work.  The focus being on supporting you in providing a safe, professional and effective practice for your clients. I believe in a collaborative and supportive approach enabling your growth and continuing development as a practitioner.  I gained my qualification as a Counsellor in 2002 (Diploma) and a BSC (hons) Counselling Degree in 2004 (First Class). I have been BACP Accredited since 2009 and became Senior Accredited in 2017. I gained an Advanced Certificate in Clinical Supervision including Online and Telephone working in 2023. My experience of counselling for over 20 years is very varied. I have worked with a diverse range of clients in various settings including those specialising in issues relating to childhood experiences, a women's centre, and the NHS as a staff counsellor. I also have many years’ experience of managing a very busy and successful college counselling service and counselling students within that setting.  My experience of managing a professional counselling service over many years, providing clinical guidance to other counsellors has also given me a breadth of experience that is invaluable in supervising other counsellors understanding the challenges they may face in providing an ethical and professional service. I have also taught level 2, 3 and 4 counselling courses supporting learners on their path to becoming fully qualified counsellors.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
