Supervision details

I offer supervision to qualified and trainee psychologists, counsellors, CBT therapists, and other helping professionals.   How I work  We care deeply about our work and as such I know how important it is to feel as though we have a non-judgmental and safe space where we feel able to reflect, discuss and explore our practice.

This understanding acts as the foundation for how I work with supervisees, as I focus on providing you with an experience in which you feel supported and encouraged to talk about your work freely and openly.  I view supervision as a collaborative process and spend time learning about your individual approach to your practice and your aspirations for how you would like to develop and grow both professionally and personally. I keep this at the heart of supervision to support you to find a way to work with any challenges you may face in a way that is ethically considered and which also aligns with your values around your practice.

For trainee counselling psychologists I have experienced through my own training and also in supervising trainees through all stages of supervision including preparation for the final viva, which encompasses your own reflections on your identity as a practitioner, which I aim to work alongside you in exploring and developing In addition to building on our understanding of theory and practice and upholding professional guidelines and ethical practice; I also see the restorative element of supervision as a crucial in supporting practitioner wellbeing and working towards preventing burnout. My view is that we are first and foremost human and this must not be ignored in the work that we do.  Qualifications  I have training in person-centred counselling, CBT, and ACT, which I draw on in my own practice and can support practitioners in learning or working from these perspectives, as well as working from pluralistic or integrative approaches.  I have completed BPS accredited training in providing supervision and NES training in supervising trainee clinical psychologists.  Other Professions I also have a keen interest in providing supervision for other helping professions to support their wellbeing, prevent burnout, and introduce a psychological-informed perspective to their work. I have experience working with British Sign Language Interpreters and have conducted published research on interpreter wellbeing.

Prices Students/ Trainees: £60 Qualified: £85 I offer all potential supervisees a free 30-minute consultation to see if we can work together.

Testimonial: "As a counselling psychologist in training, I have found Emma's supervision to be extremely valuable. She has supported me in my use of multiple therapeutic modalities and interventions, as well as theoretical and ethical issues. Emma has been able to provide invaluable insight into my relationships with clients in terms of what's going on in the room, and her reflections and contributions have definitely had a significant impact on my practice. Within the supervisory relationship, Emma is collaborative, non-judgemental, and empathic. This allows me to make the most out of supervision and benefits both myself and my clients. Ultimately, my supervision with Emma has enabled me to feel both held as a trainee and also to grow as an autonomous practitioner. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend working with Emma as a supervisor."
