Supervision details

About me

My initial training was in the Person-Centred approach and I have since completed additional CPD in various different areas including CBT, EFT and sandplay therapy. In addition, I recently graduated with an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I tailored my MA to two of my particular areas of interest in the field, addiction and creative interventions in therapy.

I have over 20 years’ experience in supporting people to make positive changes to their lives in a range of different settings. Prior to qualifying as a counsellor I have worked in inpatient mental health hospitals, community settings, police custody suites and prisons. I have had the privilege of working with people from all walks of life and really value diversity and how unique each individual is. I have worked in private practice for 5 years and also work for a GP practice one day a week.

My supervision practice

As a Person-Centred counsellor I have a strong belief in the power of the therapeutic relationship and have sought to incorporate this in to my supervision practice and supervisory relationships. I offer a nurturing space to bring your client work where you can feel supported yet challenged. I feel really passionate about creating meaningful relationships with my supervisees where they can share openly about their client work and their own processes within this without a fear of judgement. I believe supervision is a collaborative relationship and a place where you can explore not only your worries or challenges with your client work but also your successes. The work we do can be really demanding but also rewarding and I know how useful supervision is for me as a therapist as a place to reflect on everything I experience in my client work. I aim to offer this for my supervisees.

I work within the seven-eyed model of supervision which allows for a good overview of your practice, it's impact on you and any areas of knowledge or skills you would like to strengthen.

While I work with a range of presenting issues commonly anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and identity, I have a specialist knowledge and interest in addiction and creative interventions in therapy. Having worked in addiction services for over 15 years in previous roles and as a counsellor, I am able to share this knowledge with supervisees working in the field. I also have a sound understanding of neurodiversity and always aim to work in a neuro-inclusive way both with supervisees and counselling clients.

I have recently completed the theory element of my supervision training and am currently working towards my placement hours. I have 6 years experience as a qualified counsellor.

I am currently offering a reduced fee of £20 per hour whilst completing my training. I also offer a free 20 minute telephone or video call where we can see if we would be a good fit to work together. If you would like to arrange a call, please reach out either via e mail at roberta.king82@outlook.com or via or text/ telephone call at 07999968433

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
