Supervision details
I currently have roles that see me supervising 10+ counsellors (1:1 and group supervision) I have completed 1100+ hours as a supervisor. I completed my supervision diploma in Jan 2019 after completing the required hours and additional work from my certificate in May 2018. I am a fully accredited counsellor with 10+ years experience since completing my initial Person Centred training. Since completing my diploma I have continued my personal development and broadened my knowledge of different theories and approaches (please see my Qualification, Training & Certificates page on my website). A consequence of this is I have developed my counselling style to more of an eclectic approach tailoring to the needs of my clients. My main focus of work is with clients who have experienced trauma. I have/am working with clients in the private and organisational sectors, short and long term counselling.
Please see comments from supervisees: - “I greatly value my supervision with Del, he has been instrumental in challenging my work and in me becoming a more effective counsellor. His style and manner create a warm and supportive yet developmental relationship.” “In my first supervision session with Del I felt an instant rapport and relational engagement. I feel Del particularly understands my style and approach. I always come away with a sense of being received, accepted and understood. I get a real sense of growth as a counsellor after my sessions. Del also has a great sense of humour!” “Del has been hugely supportive and encouraging of my transition from trainee counsellor to independent private practitioner. His observations are thought provoking, sometimes challenging but always clearly delivered with professionalism and care. I enjoy working with him.” I am also now offering online supervision, please contact me for details. Please contact me if you have any questions or wish to arrange an initial meeting.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
