Supervision details
A SAFE, REFLECTIVE SPACE I offer supervision to counsellors working with adults or children, as well as others in helping professions, who may benefit from reflecting on their work and clients in a confidential and supportive environment. I am a fully trained integrative therapist and have supervised the clinical work of fellow counsellors for a number of years. In addition I have completed additional training in supervision (Level 6 CPCAB Certificate in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision). I work with counsellors from a wide range of theoretical orientations and as I myself practice integratively I'm able to be flexible and tailored in my approach. My own background and ongoing work is with adults, young people and children. I offer face to face, online and phone supervision. SUPPORTING AND DEVELOPING YOUR PRACTICE My approach within supervision is that we are always learning, whether things are going well or we are encountering difficulties with our clients. I believe that by offer fellow therapists and others in people centred environments, an effective, non judgemental professional relationship and a safe confidential space to reflect on practice, we can grow and develop in our work. With a background of working with children as well as using items and materials with adult clients I'm accustomed to working creatively. Many therapists are now incorporating art, craft and other materials and techniques into their practice. I am happy to support and supervise counsellors in their creative practice and incorporate these ideas into our sessions. You can find more information on my website and you are welcome to call me for further information.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
