Supervision details
I offer Clinical Supervision for counsellors in Totnes and Online. I am a registered member of the BACP and follow their ethical code of practice. My counselling training was in Integrative practice and therefore I bring this theoretical perspective to my work as a Supervisor. Throughout my career so far my experience has been varied as a practitioner . I have worked and volunteered in higher education colleges , schools and specialist youth agencies and helplines. I worked with young people at Off the Record (Bristol) , The Isle of Wight Youth Trust and I was a counselling coordinator for Young Devon in Plymouth. Before my formal training I volunteered as a telephone counsellor at Bristol Crisis service for women (now Self Injury Support ). I now work solely in Private practice seeing both young people and adults. I have experience of designing and delivering workshops to both young people , veterinary professionals and counsellors. I am passionate about counselling being a very human experience and resilience in mental health being taught to both young people and adults. I believe I bring these elements to my Supervision practice too. I have special interests in working creatively in Practice, neuroscience and working with young people. I have experience of setting up, moving and maintaining a private practice and have interest and experience of marketing and promoting counselling which I always love to encourage other practitioners to do. I am experienced in supervising both groups and individuals, qualified and student counsellors. My hope would be that as a supervisor I can facilitate a space for you to feel supported , to develop as a therapist and to explore the processes and dynamics that you are experiencing. I work integrate the models and functions of Supervision explored by Hawkins and Shohet as well as newer models of practice such as the work of Els Van Ooijen. My sessions are £55 for an hours session or £75 for 1.5hrs. I also offer Skype/Zoom or telephone Supervision
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
