World Mental Health Day - infographic
World Mental Health Day this year tackled schizophrenia, an often misunderstood condition. Statistics from the Mental Health Foundation reveal that there is more media misinformation about schizophrenia than any other condition.
So what exactly is it?
Schizophrenia affects your ability to think clearly and decipher fantasy from reality. Common symptoms include hallucinations and hearing voices, both of which can be incredibly unsettling, for both the person experiencing it and those around them.
Luckily there are various treatments available to help people live with schizophrenia and manage symptoms.
Popular treatments include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and art therapy, usually these forms of therapy are offered alongside medication. The treatment will differ from person to person and will depend on individual circumstances.
Raising awareness of this condition will hopefully dispel some of the misconceptions. To support this effort, we invite you to share our Mental Health Awareness Day infographic.
