Day one

  • Introductions and housekeeping
  • Getting to know you exercise

Part one:

Models of relating; ways people relate:

  • Berne’s Relationship Diagram
  • Boyd and Boyd
  • Bader and Pearson

Attachment styles in a relationship:

  • Kaplan TILT

Part two:

  • When relationships experience problems
  • Group Discussion
  • Holtby: Interlocking Racket System
  • Bader and Pearson: Symbiotic Relationship Patterns
  • Little: Shame Loop

Day two

Part three:

  • Ways of working with couples.
  • Contracting/agreements re goals.
  • Reflective listening – helping couples meet each other’s relational needs.
  • Addressing the negative behaviour patterns:
    • Stamp collecting
    • Impasses
    • Symbiosis/co-dependency
  • Examples and demonstration

Part four:

Addressing specific issues: we aim to meet the needs of the audience in this section.

Please rank the specific issues you wish to address: one is most important through to nine as the least important; we aim to address the three most preferred topics. This information will be required at least four weeks prior to the commencement of the modules. Any further requirements for addressing additional topics will be noted for further modules.

Information

Fees: early bird: £125 per day if paid in full by May 18th 2019. Thereafter the fee is £150 per day to be paid by May 30th 2019.

Julia Tolley, TSTA (P), CTA(P), UKCP registered, BACP (Accred), MCIPD, BPS

Psychotherapist, supervisor, trainer, and coach. Julia is based in the West Midlands where she has a private practice of clients and supervisees. She is also a primary course tutor and supervisor in the Manchester area.

Julia has a background in human resources, particularly in the development of people and organisations and in the field of strategic change.

As support tutor/supervisor for several universities, supervisor of safeguarding and senior management teams, Julia has supported many professionals from a supervision, mentoring and coaching perspective.

Marilyn Wright PTSTA (P), UKCP registered, psychotherapist, supervisor, and visiting trainer

Marilyn is based in the East Midlands, with a private practice of clients and supervisees. She has been a clinical supervisor for 14 years. She has a background as an adult tutor and community worker, providing team support and training for voluntary organisations.
