Sadly, miscarriage is far more common than people realise. It is estimated that one in four women in the UK will have had a miscarriage. Women tend to experience lack of understanding out there, and not many feel that they are able to talk about their loss. Bereavement support in this area is so important, as it differs to other bereavements and requires a particular understanding and support by those of us who may work with this client group.

This is a six-hour workshop designed to enhance the awareness and empathy of trainees/therapists, medical professionals, or others in the caring profession, when working with clients/patients who have suffered miscarriage. Kelly has over 10 years of experience working in the area of baby loss, and is passionate about supporting women and their partners through this. This is an interactive day which will include both small and whole group discussions. Certificates will be provided for six hours of CPD.

In brief, it covers;

  • looking at latest statistics
  • possible causes of miscarriage
  • how is miscarriage different from other bereavements?
  • some personal stories
  • ripples of impact
  • grief stages in miscarriage
  • what support the sufferer may need
  • tools that could help
  • group exercises

Refreshments will be provided in the form of tea, coffee, cold drinks, and snacks. Please bring a packed lunch or, alternatively, you can access food from nearby places such as McDonalds or Morrisons.

Contact Kelly (MBACP Accred.) for a booking form at kelerina@googlemail.com, or call 07847 310 717 for more information.

*Please note: Due to the sensitive and experiential nature of the course, it is advised that anybody who has suffered a recent miscarriage, (within the last 2 years) should not attend this workshop.
