To EMDR or to not EMDR? A question and a therapeutic position
What will we be doing?
We will spend the day considering the following:
- What is “trauma”?
- How do we know it’s trauma – and what is a ‘trauma-informed’ therapy?
- A brief introduction to Polyvagal Theory and how it helps our thinking in EMDR.
- What is EMDR?
How it can help?
To EMDR, or not to EMDR: safe delivery, the EMDR standard protocol and its many adaptations.
How to apply AIP (adapted information processing) theory in EMDR.
The workshop will include dyadic teaching, small group discussion, practice-based conversation and case examples.
This is not EMDR Standard protocol training (please speak with our clinical director if you are interested in EMDR training) – this is an opportunity to come together and think about EMDR as a trauma-informed therapy, and to explore therapists’ interests in the training and/or practice of EMDR.
