The art of psychodynamic therapy
This course is designed over 6 weeks and will be run weekly on Friday afternoons starting November 1st and ending December 6th from 2.00 -5.00 pm at Somerset Counselling Centre.
About the course:
The meaning of the term art is that it requires a creative endeavour. It is not accidental. This course is designed to explore our therapeutic endeavours using a psychodynamic model.
This means we put the relationship between self and others central. All the conscious and unconscious nuances of self and others are explored to truly meet ourselves and the other in the room.
We will explore and work with the concept and application of:
- Transference and countertransference
- Internal conflict – the 4 pillars.
- Defence mechanisms
- The bridge between self and other.
- The course will be a mix of theory and experiential work.
