London foundation certificate in counselling and psychotherapy

We are currently recruiting for our London foundation certificate course which is a year-long, very part-time course (one weekend a month for 10 months), starting in January. The course is located in Regents University, in beautiful Regent's Park, but is privately run. 2019 will be our sixth year of running the course; our sister course, the London diploma in psychosexual and relationship therapy, has been running, in various forms, for over twenty years.

The London foundation course is aimed at people wishing to consider or embark on training for counselling, psychotherapy or psychosexual and relationship therapy. We have an enthusiastic team of highly experienced therapists teaching the course. We enjoy taking on a diverse group of students who are often considering changing careers. No prior experience of counselling is required.

The course gives an understanding overview of several different counselling approaches and philosophies, such as Existential, Gestalt and CBT, and, unusually at this level, includes a module on Psychosexual and Relationship therapy. It is an ideal course if you are new to the field and would like to develop an integrative understanding. It also provides a basic training in person-centred counselling skills.

Many students go on to diploma or masters level courses in counselling or psychotherapy, particularly the London diploma in psychosexual and relationship therapy. Alternatively, you may take the course simply to enhance your own personal communications skills and self-awareness.
