Launch of "Roads Without Shoulders: Journeys in Therapy"
Part memoir, part collection of riveting case histories, the book is written in a fluent, nuanced, witty and highly literary style, similar to Irvin Yalom or Oliver Sacks. All 52 stories are set in Glasgow, which is implicit in the architecture, atmosphere, weather, language and humour evoked throughout.
"Her genius is in making us see some essential truths about the things that so often remain unresolved. In between her recollections of others, there are three deeply moving personal ‘interludes’, which help shape our understanding of not just the author, but how and why she came to be a therapist and, in one deeply painful story, in particular, the family traumas she has faced."
