If you want to learn to work with couples but are unsure of where to start, the Getting started with Imago relationship therapy couples therapy training course is for you.

The Imago Foundations course is a two-day training course for counsellors and therapists who want to learn the basic theory and clinical skills of Imago relationship therapy.

Day 1

  • what is Imago relationship therapy?
  • the basic principles of Imago relationship therapy
  • the relational paradigm, what it is and why it's important
  • skills practice - the Imago dialogue process

Day 2

  • the Imago journeys of self
  • the first session - what to do when a couple arrives for therapy for the first time
  • skills practice - the full Imago dialogue process

Who is the workshop aimed at?

This workshop is aimed at therapists wanting to learn how to work with couples.

Trainer - Ian Tomlinson

Ian Tomlinson is a UKCP-registered psychotherapist working with individuals and couples. He is an Advanced Imago relationship therapist, workshop presenter and member of The Imago International Training Institute. Ian is one of two people in the UK training therapists and counsellors to become certified Imago relationship therapists. He practices from and is co-director of The Affinity Centre in Manchester.

Please note that a delegate space is not guaranteed until payment is received. Please note that lunch is not included. We are next to Sauchiehall Street, so there are many places available to buy lunch and you are welcome to bring your own.
