A rabbit hole/burrow has many twists and turns with several entrances, dead ends and exits and our profession’s purpose is to support people in knowing every twist and turn of their hidden, denied or suppressed process by gaining greater awareness of the self.

During the day, you will learn how to explore and support your client no matter which choice or turn they may take, no matter what the client brings (remembering that everything is equally important). We will explore how to offer different and un-explored territories (interventions), within the client history and unknown needs.

We will explore how to notice when either the client or yourself as therapist become stuck or lost and how to support the client in speaking and expressing their unspoken or unexpressed needs. We will also look at how being ‘down in the rabbit hole’ may affect the therapist and/or the client and, therefore, the therapeutic relationship.

Within supervision, some counsellors say - "I felt lost", "I was not sure what to offer next", "I was not sure where to go with what was shared"… All of which is like being in a dark tunnel of the rabbit hole, which sometimes results in heading for the nearest exit (a safer place). In theoretical terms, the counsellor could well be picking up on their client’s process, which is informative to the work.

Within the day, you will see and learn how to fuss and how sometimes just waiting will present the answers.
