Developing Your Outdoor Practice is a one-day CPD workshop aimed at counsellors and psychotherapists who are new to working outdoors and are looking to move to away from the therapy room.

Whether your interest is in 'walk and talk', ecotherapy, nature therapy or something else, working outside as a counsellor brings a host of questions, from the practical to challenging assumptions around what therapy looks like. We'll be considering how it might affect your work and helping you form a basis for what moving outside might mean to you, your clients and your approach.

This face to face training mixes group discussion, looking at research and ecotherapy theories as well as lots of experiential learning. We will cover:

  • How you experience nature and the implications for your practice.
  • How working outdoors can enhance your therapeutic practice – and when it might not be suitable.
  • The practicalities (such as confidentiality, choosing your space, risk assessments and weather).

Feedback from a previous session: "I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and came away with a new understanding of working outdoors. The content and delivery was engaging and thought-provoking... not only did the workshop give me practical tips on how to work outdoors as a therapist, but also opened my eyes to aspects of offering outdoor therapy that I hadn't considered or been aware of previously. Jen is a knowledgeable and inspiring trainer whose enthusiasm - passion! - for outdoor therapy was evident throughout. "

The venue is an outdoor learning facility just outside Wolverhampton, near Codsall and we have nine acres to explore, as well as a comfortable meeting space and private indoor toilets. The site is fully accessible but please let me know if you’ve any specific access concerns.

All meals are included (breakfast, lunch, snacks at breaks as well as hot drinks) and any dietary requirements can be catered for, just let me know upon booking.

You’ll get a CPD certificate to take home, and the cost of the full day including food/drinks is £120.

To book, email me at jen@yournature.org.uk.
