Counselling children, young people and families.

Sensing Friends is organising a CPD training event, through Cara Counselling, which will run in September 2018.

Please contact penny@sensingfriends.org, before 30th June, if you are interested in taking this training below in September for £250.00.

CPD workshop for counsellors.

The BACP has recently made changes to the expectations of counsellors working with children, young people and families. Counsellors who would like to work with children and adolescents are required to engage in additional training if the course they attend is not specialised for the work in this area.

About the workshop

This is a 15-hour workshop run over three days aimed at fulfilling this BACP requirement. It will focus on up-skilling practicing counsellors with the knowledge and expertise to work confidently with children young people and families.

The workshop will enable you to understand the many experiences and influences that shape child and adolescent mental health, presenting issues and behaviours, and the counsellor’s role and ethical responsibilities when working with this client group.
We will address each of the BACP competences for working with young people.
Each counsellor will have the opportunity to explore their own strengths, create individual action plans and creatively collaborate on areas that the group would like to develop.
The workshop will include practical strategies and interventions to use in sessions with children and adolescents and consider adaptations that may be required for the specific client group.

It will include the use of:

  • Sand tray work.
  • Clay.
  • Collage.
  • Drama.

Who is it for?

This training is aimed at practising counsellors.

What will I do on this workshop?

It will be a mix of didactic teaching, experiential exercises and group discussions to allow for shared experiences and knowledge in working with this client.
