About me

**I offer a free telephone consultation to help you decide whether therapy might be helpful for you.**

What to expect from therapy:

Therapy is a personal and confidential place for you to unfold. We can look at what is going on for you, in a calm and unpressured space. We might talk about how you got to where you are, and what, if anything, you would like to change.

It can be life resourcing.

You might be struggling with anxiety about work or study demands; mental health issues; relationship difficulties; family or parenting challenges, or other health concerns. Therapy can be a reassuring and safe space when there is change, worry or uncertainty around you. It can remind you of the resources you already have, and help you find more.

It can be life altering.

Maybe you feel anxious, stuck, lost, or like you’re repeating the same old patterns. You haven't worked out exactly what’s going on, but you know things could be different. You might be at a turning point, and on the brink of making important decisions. Therapy can help you find clarity on what you want to change and how you might go about making those changes.

It can be life affirming.

Therapy can help you voice exactly how you want to live, help you celebrate what’s already working and find ways to see new possibilities.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an Accredited member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP) Accred, registration number 373979. This means I am responsible for working to a professional standard, and adhere to an Ethical Framework.

I hold an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling, accredited by the BACP.

I work with adults aged 18 and over. I’ve practised in higher education, rehab and hospital settings, and the charitable sector.

Along the way, I’ve met people who are working out which way to go in life, people who are actively making changes and people who are struggling and need a temporary helping hand. And lots of people in between.

I am warm, welcoming and genuinely enjoy sitting down with people and trying to figure things out.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
