Yesim Aslam MBACP, BA (Hons), Dip in Counselling, PGCE in Education.
Hello, my name is Yeshim and I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist.
Lockdown accessibility: I am available for telephone, Skype, Zoom or alternative on-line counselling.
I have expertise in working with a variety of presenting issues, from depression, anxiety, cultural issues, addictions, relationships, personality disorders, loss and bereavement and self development. I use a number of therapeutic models and techniques, including psychodynamic and CBT.
Counselling/psychotherapy aims to help you deal with and overcome these issues by providing a safe and regular space for you to talk and explore your thoughts and concerns.
Practices in Surrey: Central Croydon, Purley and Coulsdon
Accessible by public transport.
In addition, I provide a mobile counselling service , for those people experiencing: mobility, transportation or psychological restrictions - such as agoraphobia.
I am a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and I work within their ethical framework. This means that I am bound by their code of conduct and ethics to assure that your therapy will be practiced to a highly professional standard.
I am also a lecturer and teach/deliver counselling courses in educational organisations and institutes.
What I can provide:
I believe in offering a safe, confidential and non-judgement place for those seeking to start therapy. I offer a place to explore and develop insight, clarity and an understanding of the issues that you are bringing.
I currently work in private practice providing both time limited therapy (between 6 -20 session) and open ended therapy (long term).
I have also worked for Mind in Croydon, specialising in mental health and related issues.
My professional approach with clients is simple, warm and down to earth and I aim to offer a respectful, caring, insightful and confidential service, supporting and working according to my clients individual needs where difficulties can be resolved.
I am passionate about working with individuals and I am mindful that the process of finding a counsellor may be stressful. That is why I offer an initial 50 minute consultation, where you will have the space to explore your needs and enable you to meet me.
In addition to my counselling and therapeutic work, I mentor students with learning disabilities by empowering them to resolve current issues and to develop coping strategies for the future. Acknowledging their strengths, talents and gifts and encouraging them to find ways to use them. Be an active listener and offer support and encouragement when appropriate. Engage in activities outside of the home to help expose the student to new opportunities and experiences.
I have vast experience working within multicultural environments, therefore I work emphatically and with consideration with issues relating to religion, beliefs and culture.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
