Hello and Welcome. My name is Yasmin and I am the founder of The Congruent Counsellor Ltd. I am a qualified and experienced counsellor, working with people who struggle with self-confidence and self-esteem issues. I also work with supporting people through setbacks or situations in life that may feel challenging and at times overwhelming.
I am aware that at times life can feel quite confusing. As if things aren’t quite right but yet you don’t know what’s wrong or perhaps you struggle with making the changes needed? What is certain however, is that currently as it is, life isn’t working for you. It feels unfulfilled, unhappy, stuck. This has led to a knock-on effect on how you feel about yourself, your self-esteem and even your relationships with others.
What I offer:
As The Congruent Counsellor, I offer you the opportunity of a safe and confidential space that is free from any judgement and full of acceptance and empathy. What this means for you is that you get a space to openly talk about what is troubling you; the opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings to gain insights and clarity, as well as uniquely tailored support in developing changes that ultimately lead to a more balanced and content life.
Previous Work History:
Prior to embarking on a career in counselling, I graduated from university with a degree in Business Management & I.T and had a long career within the property rental and management industry. My role within this field required me to engage and interact with people from all walks of life and I bring this skill with me into my counselling private practice, allowing me to once again adapt my work according to each person’s individual needs.
I understand that it can feel quite difficult trying to find a counsellor that is the right fit for you and so I offer a brief consultation in which we can discuss what has brought you to counselling and what you would like to gain from therapy. During this consultation, you are free to ask any questions you have about counselling and the way I work, in order to help you make an informed decision about whether my way of working is a good fit for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
Along with my private practice, I have also offered my services voluntarily with Refuge where I worked as a peer mentor and emotional support worker, supporting women to rebuild their lives and overcome different forms of abuse. Additionally, I have worked within the NHS IAPT service offering short-term, focussed counselling and am currently working with Sutton Women’s Centre, offering long-term counselling and psychotherapy to women who have experienced abusive relationships.
As I was brought up in a multicultural society (as well as multiple cultures coming together within my own family), it has given me a unique ability to see cultures from a different viewpoint; both the importance of beliefs and values that can come from our cultures, whilst also recognising the internal conflicts they can cause us as individuals. This, along with my training allows me to tailor my work according to your needs and requirements.
- Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
- Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies
- Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
- Level 1 Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling
- As a commitment to my continuous professional development, I ensure that I engage in and complete a minimum of 30 hours of training per year.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
