About me
I aim to take the stress out of counselling by providing a warm, down-to-earth approach that adapts to your needs from moment to moment. Walking outdoors, online, or at my therapy room in Nailsworth, wherever we work, you will be seen, heard and supported.
Counselling is for anyone and everyone. You might have a specific thing you want to talk about - pain from your past or worries about the future. Or you might have a general sense that something is stuck, that this isn’t quite the life you’d expected.
I am a qualified and experienced therapeutic counsellor. For over ten years, I have worked with lots of people like you to help them feel better - more resilient and confident, with stronger relationships and a more fulfilling life. I offer a warm, down-to-earth approach, creating a safe space where you can feel heard and supported.
I offer the safety and structure for us to develop a creative partnership, where we can work together to explore both what is troubling you and your potential in life and to support you to find a sense of freedom to be your true self.
Some of the areas that you may wish to explore, among others:
Depression, stress and anxiety - feeling low, overwhelmed or fearful can be all-consuming. We can work together to unpick and understand your unique experiences and to support your nervous system to find equilibrium.
Emotional processing - often when we feel stuck in some way, we are longing to express past or current feelings and experiences, such as loss, betrayal and conflict. I can help you to do this through words, visualisation and movement. I will offer deep empathy and compassion as you work through what troubles you.
Relationships - You may be feeling disconnected, under-valued or alone. Working on boundaries and self-advocacy can help you deepen relationship to yourself and others. I offer a compassionate and genuine therapeutic relationship as a place to explore the other relationships in your life.
Coping strategies -Together we can recognise the strategies that have served you so far in life, consider why and how they developed earlier in your life and explore if you would like to adapt them to better meet your current and future needs.
Self expression - finding what you truly love about yourself and trusting that you are safe enough to express it can be a fulfilling journey. Identifying and strengthening what supports you is empowering.
We will work with whatever you bring to each session. You are the expert on yourself and it is my job to enable you to make changes.
I am neuro-diversity affirming, drawing on both lived experience and formal training. I strive to offer a safe and validating space, where we can both be curious about how you experience the world - celebrate strengths, respect differences and co-create real support for you. I challenge neuro-normativity - the assumption that there is a single ‘correct’ way to think, feel and behave - in all its forms.
I work from therapy rooms in Nailsworth, online and outdoors, walking in nature around Minchinhampton and Stroud.

Training, qualifications & experience
I am a registered member of BACP, the professional association for members of the counselling professions in the UK. I adhere to the professional ethics and standards of BACP, including ongoing professional development and supervision to ensure my practice is ethical and effective.
I hold a Diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling and a Foundation Certificate in Psychotherapy and Counselling from the Bath Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy, which is accredited by BACP.
I continue to learn and develop my skills and have undertaken training in diverse areas including Mindfulness for Therapists, Walk and Talk Therapy in the Outdoors, Somatic Therapy and neurodiversity-affirming practice .
As well as working with clients in my private practice, I have worked with clients with active drug and alcohol addictions and those in recovery at the Swan Project in Bristol and also with students in a university student counselling service.
Prior to training as a therapist, I had a fifteen year career in international development - focusing on building capacity for self-advocacy with marginalised communities, mentoring and training individuals and organisations and working to bring together communities with diverse agendas to campaign for increased transparency and accountability.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
