About me
Are you dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, or simply looking for a space to reflect and grow?
Are you finding life overwhelming or something has happened that is making life feel hard to deal with? Then let me help you.
I work with clients to support them through difficult periods in their lives, offering a non-judgemental and truly authentic space that helps them move forward more easily.
By providing a nurturing space where you can safely talk through anything that you would like to make sense of, I find that my clients are able to comfortably open up to me.
By working together to bring the puzzle pieces of your life together, my goal is to help you to feel more equipped to deal with anything that comes your way.
How it Works:
Depending on your location I can work with you online, or I offer walk and talk therapy on private land in Mid-Devon.
Walk and talk therapy takes you outside the traditional therapy room and into nature, without losing the sense of connection. In fact, the blend of physical activity and nature’s calming influence can make it easier for you to open up and gain fresh perspectives.
There are also spaces to sit and talk during our session, so you can have the best of both worlds.
I am also a Shinrin-Yoku (forest bathing) guide, so I can include some nature mindfulness practices in your session if you’d find that helpful.
Forest bathing isn’t just about ‘tree hugging’ – it is about being mindful in nature, attuning to your senses and truly noticing your surroundings. Essentially, by discovering the healing power of nature, forest bathing can help calm your mind and soothe your nervous system.
Experience:
I work with clients 18+ all the way through to elderly clients and have experience of working with anxiety, grief, trauma, dyslexia, ADHD, abandonment, childlessness not by choice, miscarriage and estrangement, as well as a range of day to day issues.
Training, qualifications & experience
Training:
I have trained over the last five years to become an Integrative Counsellor, weaving in my life experience and previous roles working with people, which has helped so much.
Qualifications:
- Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling (Adv.Dip).
- I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and as such abide by their Ethical Framework. (MBACP)
- Shinrin Yoku (forest bathing) basic practitioner course - level 1
- Certificate in Counselling
- Online and telephone counselling
- 16 hour outdoor first aid - level 3
Experience:
I worked for the Iron Mill Counselling Agency as a counsellor before setting up my private practice, which allowed me to gain a huge amount of experience working with a variety of different clients.
Combining my in-room experience with forest bathing has helped me to develop a way of working in nature, whilst still offering you a safe place to explore your thoughts and emotions.
What is Shinrin-Yoku (forest bathing)? Forest bathing is the Japanese art of mindfully immersing yourself in a wood or forest, by connecting with your surroundings, attuning to your senses, walking slowly and breathing deeply. All of which are proven to improve focus, help with stress and even lower blood pressure.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Please note that the land is only accessible by car, but there is plenty of free parking and a loo available.
Given that we will be walking outside, please dress according to the weather that day, bringing any necessary extras like a sun hat or raincoat and wellies.
If you own a well-behaved dog, then you are welcome to bring them with you to your sessions. Please let me know if you would like to bring your dog.
Nature based therapy can take many forms, but for me, taking sessions outside the traditional therapy room and into the outside world can not only help you to gain fresh insights, but also, reconnect with the healing power of nature.
Please see some further information about how I work on my website.
