About me
Hello, I’m Tuesday Anne Benfield.
I am a Counsellor specialising in ADHD (diagnosed or undiagnosed), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Trauma.
If you have ADHD you may experience many different challenges such as rejection sensitivity, dysregulation, burnout, low self-esteem, anxiety, struggles with time management, challenges within relationships, friendships and more. My role is to support you to better understand yourself, develop new ways of managing and to reframe and unlearn negative beliefs about who you are. Together, we can work towards helping you feel more confident in yourself, rather than feeling as though you are masking and struggling to meet the demands of others and society.
If you have obsessive intrusive thoughts you may experience OCD, which can feel extremely frightening and distressing. You may have a strong fear of causing harm to yourself or to others. You may also experience Relationship OCD (ROCD), which is where you repeatedly doubt your relationship. In order to reduce anxiety you might find yourself using compulsions. Compulsions can include seeking reassurance from others and mental reassurance, repeatedly checking that things in your home are safe and other repetitive behaviours. If you experience ROCD, you may find yourself repeatedly checking in with your own thoughts or feelings to see whether you still care for your partner and more. My job is to help you feel more at ease with your thoughts, reduce your compulsions and anxiety, understand yourself more and help you break free from OCD.
Trauma: Many people have suffered from traumatic events and I have years of experience and knowledge in this area. I work with clients who have experienced childhood issues, loss, abandonment, individuals involved in sex work and more. Helping clients feel better and process their truama is a safe way. A lot of my clients say I help them feel in control of their lives again. I specialise in working with clients in high profile abuse and rape cases.
I also work with individuals who feel stuck in repeating relationship patterns and are unsure why these patterns keep happening or how to break free from them. I hold space for people navigating a range of life difficulties, including work-related stress, hormonal changes, anger managment, single parenting and more.
I work alongside all of my clients to make sense of your struggles, experiences and emotions, helping you recognise your strengths and support healing. I am down to earth, kind and professional.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have dedicated a significant amount of my professional development studying and researching ADHD, OCD, anxiety and trauma.
I have experience in working with complex and high-risk cases. Also working with clients in high profile rape and sexual abuse cases.
I am therapiest that can hear you and who listens deeply. I can support you to process trauma and stuck emotions, working alongside you to help you feel better.
I dont only work with thoughts and emotional processing, I work with emotional regulation and phyiscal processing as sometimes our body keeps the score and our nervous system needs some attention and healing.
Alongside my professional experience and qualifications as a therapeutic therapist, I bring lived experience and remain committed to ongoing learning and professional development in order to support my clients as safely and effectively as possible.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
