About me
Hello and welcome to those of you who are wondering why you feel stuck, tired or overwhelmed, who have spent your life prioritising and worrying about others and work, and now not only want to learn why, but discover (and even like) yourself in the process. For those also wanting to get to the root of these ups and downs and make longer-term change, fed up with temporary fixes or distractions. Especially if you want to do this deep dive together in a space that feels safe, informal and empowering, where all of you is welcome. Because you are exactly who I love to work with and why I created The Self Discovery Project.
Finding your way back to yourself
You might feel disconnected, overwhelmed or unsure how things ended up like this. Maybe you’re always thinking about how you come across, second-guessing what you’ve said or whether you’ve done enough, while your own needs get pushed aside. You might be the one people rely on, calm and capable on the surface but hard on yourself underneath, setting impossible standards and then feeling guilty or ashamed when you can’t meet them. You might notice you’re constantly busy, anxious, low or just numb, caught in patterns of overworking, avoiding, overthinking or shutting down. Maybe it’s getting harder to feel present or motivated, or you’re worried about the impact on your relationships, work or health. Or maybe you’re just curious, ready to understand yourself better and feel more like you. You might not know exactly what’s wrong or where to start, but you know something needs to change.
How therapy can help at The Self Discovery Project
This is where The Self Discovery Project comes in. Therapy here is designed to be thorough, with space not just for your mental health, but also your physical health, work pressures, relationships and even your inner child. It’s informal, empowering and sometimes includes humour. We’ll explore what you’re going through, look at why you feel and act the way you do and where it comes from, then figure out what’s likely to help things shift over the longer term. That might involve learning how to slow down, understand and express emotions, set boundaries, feel more confident in yourself, process what’s happened in the past or feel more at ease in your body and relationships. I use CBT, EMDR and Trauma Focused CBT as a foundation, and bring in elements from complementary approaches like self-compassion, emotion regulation, parts work, polyvagal theory, inner child and reparenting. This work is shaped by a long career in mental health and a specialism in low self-esteem, stress and trauma.
Next steps
You might feel ready for change or unsure where to start, clear on what you want to work on or just know something isn’t right. Either way, if any of this feels familiar or sparks curiosity, you’re very welcome to get in touch. I’m happy to answer questions or arrange a first session when the time feels right. Please check your junk folder in case my reply ends up there.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have worked in mental health for over 13 years across NHS, academic and private settings. I’m fully accredited in CBT and trained in EMDR and Trauma-Focused CBT, and continue to shape how I work through ongoing CPD, research and interest in other approaches. I also supervise and train both trainee and qualified clinicians, and alongside running The Self Discovery Project, I am the CBT Lead and Associate Professor for a Clinical Psychology Doctorate programme. At the heart of my work is a commitment to empowering the people I support, and helping therapists and services grow in ways that feel inclusive, flexible and genuinely adapted to each individual.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
