About me

At times in our lives we can all feel lost, overwhelmed, on edge, wracked with self doubt or feel we're just not ourselves and don't know why or can't put the feeling into words.

Therapy creates space to think deeply and to explore what's going on for us -- it's different than a chat with a supportive friend or family member. As a fully qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist, I am skilled at listening and helping people to understand their issues, how they got there and how they can heal and change their lives for the better. My clients describe me as warm, a good listener and that I ask good questions.

Inclusive & flexible therapy

My training has been rigorous and in depth, I have studied a wide range of different therapies, so I can tailor your therapy to your needs and preferences. I value the diversity and difference each of us brings and am committed to LGBTQ+, neurodivergent affirmative and anti-racist practice. I believe that by honouring our own differences we can deepen the compassion to ourselves and others.

Location

My consulting rooms are in St Albans and Queens Park, London. I welcome all questions and queries, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Training, qualifications & experience

Professional training & education

I hold a graduate Diploma and a Postgraduate Diploma (5+ years study) and have advanced clinical training from The Minster Centre in London, one of Europe’s leading training organisations for integrative counsellors and psychotherapists. I am trauma informed, somatically trained and am aware of the latest thinking in neurobiology and the nervous system. This is particularly helpful for people who:

  • struggle to put words to their feelings
  • experience panic attacks or feel anxious
  • have experienced trauma.

My training also involved having my own in-depth personal therapy. I know it can feel daunting to take the first step and I do not take that for granted.

Experienced working with a diverse range of people & issues

In addition to private practice, I have worked in community and NHS settings with a diverse range of people from varying backgrounds. I have experience of helping people who have brought many different things to therapy including; anger, anxiety, autism, bereavement & loss, depression, discrimination & oppression, family & relationship problems, identity issues, low self-esteem, pregnancy, stress, self doubt and trauma.

Before I was a therapist...

Prior to my therapy career, I spent 20 years in the corporate sector working with international consumer brands and in media and entertainment, I understand the pressures and complexity that corporate life can bring.

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Biology and have undergone numerous training programmes in change management and PR and communications.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

My practice in Queens Park is fully accessible for wheelchair users and those with restricted mobility. St Albans has restricted access due to a small number of stairs. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding accessibility.
